DIY projects for catalysis

Catalysis lab employee "tinkering" with welding

“Crafting is an art,” says Dr. Nickl, founder of C&CS. “And for me, tinkering has positive connotations. You can set up catalysis experiments, optimize analytical instruments, invent apparatus, repair many things, and simply help yourself. And it’s fun!” C&CS places great value on the tinkering skills of its employees and operates workshops for mechanics and electronics. Also […]

New catalyst for biomass gasification plants – Successful test in pilot and demonstration plant

New tar reforming catalyst for use in hot gas cleaning of biomass gasification plants

New tar reforming catalyst for use in hot gas purification of biomass gasification plants. The production of biogenic hydrogen from locally available biomass in biomass gasification plants is of great interest in view of the European Green Deal's goal of reducing CO2 emissions by 2030% by 55 compared to 1990 and reaching zero by 2050. To achieve complete tar removal in biosynthesis gas (solution of […]

New catalyst for biomass gasification plants

Biogas plant and tractor, front right the catalyst 1250

C&CS research success based on work in the MEMBER and GLAMOUR projects The production of biogenic hydrogen from locally available biomass in biomass gasification plants is of great interest in view of the goal of reducing CO2 emissions to 2030% by 55 compared to 1990 and to zero by 2050 (European Green Deal). In order to achieve more efficient hot gas cleaning (solution to the tar problem) [...]

New iron catalyst: energy savings in hydrogen liquefaction

Graphic spin configuration for molecule

Hydrogen is the energy source for a green future. We at C&CS GmbH are making our contribution to green technology and have expanded our research expertise: the chemists Dr. Hans-Jürgen Eberle and Dr. Arno Tißler are now working with us on the further development and imminent market readiness of the new catalyst they have developed for the accelerated cessation of […]

Congratulations to the 2024 Nobel Prize winners in Chemistry!

Nobel Prize Announcement Chemistry 2024 Press Conference

The scientific community is celebrating this year's Nobel Prize winners in Chemistry, David Baker, Demis Hassabis and John Bumper, for their groundbreaking contributions to research. These awards underscore the importance of their work for the future of chemistry and science in general. David Baker, a professor at the University of Washington, is known for his work in protein structure prediction and [...]

All equipment ready for use in the catalysis laboratory!

employees in the catalysis laboratory

Our catalysis laboratory is now fully operational! A few days ago, colleagues from www.micromeritics.com visited us in Kirchheim and put the AutoChem III into operation. C&CS Kat-Lab manager Dominik Kreutzer then carried out his own calibration measurements and is delighted: "With the AutoChem III, we can now carry out measurements on behalf of customers in order to, among other things, [...]

C&CS at the “IConBM2024”

C&CS at the International Conference on Biomass

At the International Conference on Biomass in Palermo (IConBM2024 (aidic.it) on May 20, 2024, initial results of a novel catalyst developed within the EU project MEMBER for Sorption Enhanced Refoming (SER) for the steam reforming of tars in a simulated synthesis gas from biomass gasification were presented. Attached you will find the link to the presentation.

C&CS at Nanogap metal molecules

Graphic Nanogap with the element AG (silver)

During a visit from Dr. Nickl in Galicia at nanogap, he was amazed at the 5-atom particles with an extremely precise particle size distribution. Or should one better say clusters, nano-particles, molecules, piles of metal, little crystals? The unusual chemical-physical properties are used for quantum dots, pharmaceuticals and now catalysts are also to be developed. https://nanogap.es/. Dr. Nickl says: “The team around David […]
