Full-service provider of industrial catalysis. This is C&CS.

Decanting and socking

Decanting & picking

C&CS sells catalysts and sorbents in quantities ranging from a single kg to dozens of tons. In this area, all order quantities requested by the customer can be supplied in suitable quantities by refilling from original containers (drums, big bags or sacks), i.e. also relabeled. For special requests, depending on the type of product, quantities <10 kg can also be filled into small containers.

A modern, computer-controlled filling system with powerful suction and calibrated scales enables us to handle even difficult products. Whether decanting, dissolving, grinding, sieving, packaging or the preparation of intermediate products: It goes without saying that all work steps are always carried out in accordance with the applicable legal requirements. Our new dosing system portions solids in powder and pellet form in the range between 100 – 5000 g.

Socking / sock loading

Loading with “socketed” catalysts is a process in which the catalyst is packed in special polyethylene bags with a bottom flap and a top hook loop. Loading is done by lowering the socks into the pipe so that the bottom of the sock is within 50 cm of the already loaded floor or catalyst. The device that keeps the bottom of the sock closed (e.g. a suitable adhesive tape) while the sock is lowered into the tube is then triggered to release the catalyst and the empty polyethylene bag is removed again.

The reformer tube should be vibrated after each bag. Fill levels should be measured regularly, preferably after each sock. By measuring the fill level, the loading team can recognize the effect of the vibration and immediately detect and rectify any loose filling of the catalytic converter (these faults can overheat the pipe). Loading, vibration and measurements continue until the tubes are filled to the design stage. The deviation of the filling level from tube to tube should not exceed 25-40 cm for standard reformers.
