Catalytic afterburning

Catalytic afterburning in catalytic oxidation systems (CATOX systems) is an application field in which C&CS has many years of experience and offers a wide range of precious metal and mixed oxide catalysts. In catalytic oxidation systems, unburned hydrocarbons (HC), carbon monoxide (CO), as well as other organic compounds and chlorinated hydrocarbons (CHC) are catalytically converted into environmentally friendly products such as carbon dioxide (CO₂) and water.

Depending on the CATOX application, either bulk catalysts or monolithic honeycomb catalysts are used. High-performance catalyst solutions such as EnviCat 55068, EnviCat 2531, and EnviCat 5557 CKW are available for these applications, ensuring high removal efficiency and process stability.

Catalytic afterburning represents an efficient alternative to thermal afterburning and offers numerous technical and economic advantages:

Catalytic oxidation systems are used in numerous industrial sectors, including the coating industry, food and plastics industries, paint shops, the pharmaceutical and chemical industries, petrochemical plants and refineries, as well as energy and power generation facilities.
