Gas drying

Gas drying is a process step for protecting equipment and ensuring stable operating conditions in industrial gas applications. Even small amounts of water vapor in gas streams can cause corrosion, hydrate and ice formation, and disruptions in downstream processes. For this reason, the reliable removal of H₂O is essential, particularly in natural gas processing, the chemical industry, and synthesis gas and hydrogen applications.

Industrial gas drying is predominantly performed by adsorption using solid desiccants. Depending on process requirements, materials such as silica gel, activated alumina, or zeolites are employed. Silica gel enables cost-effective moisture reduction, while zeolites provide extremely low dew points and a high level of process reliability, even under demanding operating conditions.

The use of regenerable adsorption systems ensures consistently high gas quality, enhances plant availability, and contributes to the sustainable optimization of operating and maintenance costs.
