Gas processing encompasses all process steps involved in purifying and conditioning raw gases and preparing them for downstream applications. The main objectives are to remove disruptive or toxic components such as CO, H₂S, H₂O, or CO₂, to adjust defined gas compositions, and to protect people, equipment, and catalysts. Gas treatment is used in areas such as breathing air treatment, process gas and biogas purification, the chemical industry, and energy conversion and storage systems.
The most important processes include adsorption, for example with activated carbon or molecular sieves or zeolites, absorption in liquids, membrane separation, and catalytic reactions such as CO oxidation. Pressure swing adsorption (PSA) in particular enables highly efficient gas separation through cyclic pressure changes, for example to obtain high-purity H₂, O₂, or N₂ from technical gas mixtures. Modern PSA plants are characterized by high energy efficiency, low maintenance requirements, and a compact design, and are therefore established in numerous industrial processes.
We support our customers in the design of customized gas treatment processes, the selection of suitable adsorbents and catalysts, and integration into existing plants – from respiratory protection and safety applications to industrial PSA systems.
