O2 removal (DEOXO): Production of green hydrogen

O₂ Removal (DEOXO): The production of green hydrogen is becoming increasingly important for generating pure hydrogen for use in fuel cells. Green hydrogen can be produced by electrolysis. Following an electrolyzer, there are typically two gas streams: a hydrogen stream and an oxygen stream. Since the output H₂ stream is contaminated with O₂, it must be purified to the single-digit ppmv range for further use in fuel cell applications. The maximum permissible O₂ content in the input H₂ stream is typically 5 ppmv in such a process. Oxygen can be removed by catalytic hydrogenation using Pt/Pd-based catalysts. Various DeOxo catalysts, such as the palladium-based ActiSorb O3 or catalysts from the EnviCat® series, are recommended.
