Oil cleaning, aromas and fragrances

In the production of flavors and fragrances, oil purification is a process step to ensure consistent product quality, color stability, and sensory purity. Natural oils often contain, in addition to the desired aroma compounds, minor constituents such as pigments, oxidation products, resins, and trace metals that can adversely affect odor, taste, and shelf life.

Purification is typically achieved by adsorption using highly active bleaching clays. Activated Tonsil® bleaching clays, such as Tonsil 614G, are particularly well suited for this application. Their high internal surface area and tailored pore structure enable the selective removal of unwanted impurities while preserving sensitive flavor and fragrance components.

The use of Tonsil 614G enables gentle decolorization, oxidative stabilization, and odor improvement of oils. As a result, bleaching clays make an important contribution to maintaining the consistently high quality required in flavor and fragrance applications.
