Power-to-X

Power-to-X technology encompasses a portion of the Power-to-X sector, specifically Power-to-Chemicals (PtC). These technologies aim to produce various chemical products using renewable electricity. This can include the synthesis of ammonia, methanol, or other valuable chemicals. Methanization is a chemical reaction in which carbon oxides (such as carbon monoxide, CO, and carbon dioxide, CO2) react with hydrogen to form usable methane (CH4). Fischer-Tropsch synthesis is a chemical process for converting synthesis gas (a mixture of CO and H2) into long-chain hydrocarbons, particularly liquid hydrocarbons. Methanol is synthesized from an H2/CO/CO2 mixture using a copper-zinc-aluminum oxide catalyst. The goal of Power-to-X technologies is to integrate renewable energy into sectors that have traditionally relied on fossil fuels, such as transportation, industry, and heating.
