Copper catalysts

Copper catalysts are used in numerous industrial processes and are characterized by high activity and selectivity. They are particularly suitable for applications such as methanol synthesis, the low-temperature water-gas shift reaction, and CO2 reduction. In addition, they are utilized in various hydrogenation reactions.

One key area of application is the production of methanol from synthesis gas, where copper-based catalysts are frequently used in combination with zinc oxide (ZnO) and alumina (Al2O3). In the water-gas shift reaction, they contribute to the conversion of carbon monoxide into carbon dioxide and the generation of hydrogen. Furthermore, they enable the selective hydrogenation of aldehydes, ketones, nitro compounds, and unsaturated hydrocarbons. Copper catalysts also play an important role in the reduction of carbon dioxide to usable fuels such as methane or methanol.

Thanks to their high efficiency at low temperatures, copper catalysts are well-suited for a wide range of industrial applications.
