C&CS #1293 – Potassium Permangnate Gas Purification Fuel Cells
This absorbent is a chemical sorption material with potassium permanganate (KMnO4) as the active component on inert Al2O3. Potassium permanganate has a very high oxidation

Potassium permanganate (KMnO4) is a oxidizing agent specifically used for the chemical conversion and removal of pollutants from air and gas streams. It enables the oxidation of a wide range of organic and inorganic compounds, including alcohols, carbonyl compounds, and sulfur-containing substances.
In air and gas purification, potassium permanganate is frequently used as an active component in adsorption materials. There, it oxidizes and neutralizes gaseous pollutants such as sulfur compounds, volatile organic compounds (VOCs), and other undesirable contaminants.
Through this combination of adsorption and chemical reaction, potassium permanganate contributes to improving air quality and complying with emission limits. It is therefore a proven component of modern air purification and gas processing systems in industrial and environmental technology.
