Zinc oxide

Zinc oxide (ZnO) is a adsorbent for the removal of hydrogen sulfide (H₂S) from gas streams, particularly from hydrocarbons such as natural gas. In this process, zinc oxide reacts with H₂S to form stable zinc sulfide (ZnS), ensuring reliable and irreversible removal of the contaminant.

This desulfurization step is essential in many industrial processes, as hydrogen sulfide can irreversibly poison catalysts and reduce process efficiency. Zinc oxide-based adsorbents therefore play a key role in protecting catalysts and maintaining stable operating conditions.
