Zinc

Zinc oxide is used in industrial applications as an adsorbent for desulfurization. It serves to remove hydrogen sulfide (H₂S) from various feeds such as natural gas or biogas. In this process, zinc oxide enables fine desulfurization, which can reduce the sulfur content in the feed down to a few ppm.

Typically, zinc oxide is supplied in pellet form. The pellets are hard and highly porous, making them suitable for use in the corresponding purification processes. To maximize adsorption capacity, zinc oxide is utilized at elevated temperatures.

Zinc oxide-based solutions are therefore well-suited for processes where the reliable removal of H₂S is required. They contribute to the purification of gas streams and support industrial applications that demand low sulfur levels in the feed.
